Besides the decision to share my thoughts & my life on line, the most difficult decisions was what to name my blog. I am always amazed by the creative & unique names people create for their blogs & often wonder about the decision process behind the choice/creation of a name. A few of my favourite blog names include:
Seam Ripper, Lululollylegs, Doobleh-vay, & Fatshionable
I wanted something original, & personal. Something that I feel expresses who I am. After many days of thought & I'm sure driving my husband nuts. It hit me while checking my Flickr. Why not use the name I had been using for several years, Princess Sunrise.
So, you may be asking yourself why Princess Sunrise? Well it's actually kind of simple. I have always been interested in the meaning of names. I find it interesting to look up the meaning of my own & others names. As a young girl & teen I have always identified with the fact that my first name, Sarah, means Princess. Even though for a good part of my life I was more of tomboy, I've always had a princess side. Then one day I decided to check the meaning of my second name, Dawn. The meaning is fairly obviously being that dawn is the beginning of the day when the sunrises. leading me to the creation of the name Princess Sunrise, the literal interpretation of my name.
I always though it fit together well, & was a fair representation of who I am. I am more of a morning person than a night owl, and I'm a fairly happy & positive person. I tend to identify with the girlie, pretty meaning of princess, rather than the high maintenance connotation of the term. Although my husband, friends, & family may have a different opinion on that subject.
There you are, the long winded, explanation of my blogs name. As I mentioned above I'm often wondering why/how others chose their Blog names? Care to share leave a comment.
Hi Sarah!
ReplyDeleteVery cool insight into your choice of blog name and your name! My first blog, TinyDisposition, came about on the fact that a.) I am tiny and b.) I always have something to say about something, hence, an endless disposition about things. Now, my new blog Tessa Talks, still follows the same manner of which I like to gab about pretty much whatever, ha.
Keep up the great posts! Hope you continue to read mine as well!
Take care,
Tessa
